Geography

Bridging the interrelationships between people, the physical environment, and technology

Why Geography?

Are you interested in climate change and its effects on the environment and society?

Do you love maps, satellite images, and geographic information?

Are you passionate about current societal issues such as:

  • housing segregation
  • environmental justice
  • gender-based practices around the world
  • religious differences and identities
  • public health and vulnerability to diseases and hazards
  • population and migration patterns
  • urban and regional economic development

If you said “yes” to any of the above—or to all of the above—then geography at UWM may be the perfect fit for you.

UWM geography faculty work closely with every student in small, personalized classes to share their commitment to address issues facing the City of Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin, and the Great Lakes region.
