K&R Scholars Research Week: UWM Students for a Democratic Society “Cut Ties with Israel” Campaign

Thursday, April 18 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

What does it mean to be anti-war?

Presented by Audari Tamayo

I am co-chair of the UWM chapter of the Students for a Democratic Society. I am a proud Chicano and originally from Idaho. I have lived in Wisconsin for nearly 3 years and this is my first semester at  UWM. I am also part of the Milwaukee 5, the five SDS members arrested after a sit-in at the chancellor’s office to urge that UWM cut ties with genocide. The university has increased its repression and put SDS and various members, including myself, under probation because of our pro-Palestine stance. I hope this semester is not my last, but if it is, that will not stop me or the rest of SDS from continuing to speak out and take action.
