Biological Sciences Colloquium: Dr. Dennis Hancock

Dr. Dennis Hancock, U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center Director for the USDA, will present a talk entitled, “Transdisciplinary research with USDA’s Agricultural Research Center.”
The abstract for the talk is as follows:
Drawing on examples from the U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center, Dr. Hancock will describe how one federal agency, the USDA-Agricultural Research Service, tackles research challenges with multi-disciplinary teams. With over 20 years of experience in academia at two major universities and now nearly four years as the Center Director at the USDFRC, Dr. Hancock will also compare and contrast how work in a federal research lab differs from academic positions. Included will be a discussion of how to search and apply for positions with federal research agencies.
The presentation will begin at 4:00 PM in Lapham Hall N101, preceded by an informal reception from 3:45 – 4:00 PM.
