February 5, 2018  |  News & Events, Sad News, Timely Announcements

Dear Colleagues,

I share with you sad news from Dean Kanti Prasad in the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business.

Dr. C. Edward Weber, the first dean of UWM’s School of Business, passed away on January 31. Dr. Weber led the school with distinction from 1966-1976.  During that time, he laid a strong foundation for excellence by establishing a research-oriented faculty; gaining distinction for our high-quality academic programs through AACSB accreditation; developing Wisconsin’s first Executive MBA program; and building important and long-lasting relationships with the business community.

After leaving the deanship, Dr. Weber continued to serve the school as a valuable senior member of the management faculty, where he specialized in business ethics and corporate strategy until his retirement in 1996.  He was an Ernest Spaights Plaza Awardee in 2001.

A memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 17 at the Chapel of St. John the Evangelist at St. John’s on the Lake, 1840 N. Prospect Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53202.  Details can be found at:  https://www.lifestorynet.com/obituaries/c-edward-weber.120595. A full obituary will be published in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Sunday, February 11.

Our condolences to Ed’s family and to the many others whose lives he touched.

Take care,

Johannes
