Using an intersectional approach to advocate for the agency, education, and empowerment of women-identified students.
The Centers for Advocacy and Student Engagement (CASE) collaborate to support and advocate for marginalized students through comprehensive programs, resources, professional development, and community connections in Milwaukee.
The members of CASE include the First-Generation+Resource Center (FG+RC), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Plus Resource Center (LGBTQ+RC), Military and Veteran’s Resource Center (MAVRC), and the Women’s Resources Center (WRC). Each of these Centers serve students by creating spaces, programs and resources that support each student’s journey through UWM.
CASE Shared Values:
-
- Advocacy – Engage and uplift the voices of marginalized communities at UWM.
- Affirmation –Build a community that celebrates and respects students’ diverse experiences, identities, and self-worth.
- Empowerment – Motivate students to develop agency and control over their college experience.
- Community Care – Foster belonging and shared responsibility for student success.

“Women’s Resource Center.” What does that mean?
The WRC centers women, but is open to people of all genders. The WRC efforts are not meant to be exclusionary, as our defining of “women” includes multiple identities (including but not limited to those who identify as cis, trans) femme, non-binary and gender expansive. We also understand that women experience gender-based marginalization, and that this marginalization is compounded by other intersecting identities. The WRC is intended for those who self-identify as women (cis and trans) and all who have lived experience of misogyny as well as non-binary people.
