UC Chair Kris O’Connor reported that the Male Allies workshop will be held later this week; he will be attending. Registration is currently at 110 attending.

Secretary of the University Trudy Turner reported on the Chancellor’s Expanded Cabinet meeting.

UC member Kathleen Dolan reported that the College of Health Sciences Dean search is beginning, with the committee tentatively scheduled to screen candidates in November.

UC member Bettina Arnold reported that in the Academic Planning and Budget committee meeting, it was discussed that the Strategic Position Control Committee will be replaced by APBC once the new budget model is in place. Budget models will be presented to APBC by the Provost in December.

Chancellor Mone attended, and discussed the System Chancellor’s meeting; the next Board of Regents meeting will feature a presentation by UWM, UW-Parkside and UW-Whitewater on the Higher Education Regional Alliance and how this alliance is positioned to build capacity in the region. The Chancellor is also planning to meet with Panther Promoters, a group of alumni, foundation and community members, to discuss UWM initiatives and how they can work with legislators effectively and strategically. The Chancellor also discussed strategic partnerships and their impact on UWM.

ASC Chair Kristin Roosevelt briefed UC that the Academic Staff Committee had its first meeting of the year, and they are reviewing their bylaws and discussing adjusting the attendance policy to better accommodate 9-month staff (during summer meetings). Revisions to UWM P&P Chapter 104 were approved last year, and the ASC is now working on developing a traveling presentation on contract types for units who will fall under those policies/procedures. One at-large senator has been appointed to the AS Senate from the new College of General Studies (UWM-Waukesha and UWM-Washington County). AS have also been asked to respond to UW System’s policies on reference checking and personnel transfers.
