How to get permission to take a class with prerequisites

Non-degree students who intend to take a course with prerequisites will need to get departmental permission and will not be able to register for such a class on their own. Since non-degree applicants do not send transcripts as part of the application, we do not have your non-UWM records on file. To demonstrate that you have satisfied the prerequisite via a course taken at another university:

  1. Email the department for the class(es) you wish to take using the contact list below
  2. In your email, indicate that you are a non-degree student seeking permission to take a course with a prerequisite. Include your full name, campus ID number, and the course name, number, and section number.
  3. Attach a copy of your transcript showing that you have taken the prerequisite class(es) elsewhere.

The department will respond directly with further information about registering for that class.
