Nonprofit Academic Centers Council (NACC)
NACC is a membership association of academic centers or programs at accredited colleges and universities that focus on the study of nonprofit organizations, voluntarism and/or philanthropy. Established in 1991, NACC is the first group entirely dedicated to the promotion and networking of nonprofit academic centers. John Palmer Smith, HBI’s founding Executive Director, served as president of NACC from 2004 through 2006.
Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA)
ARNOVA is a neutral, open forum committed to strengthening the research community in the emerging field of nonprofit and philanthropic studies. ARNOVA brings together both theoretical and applied interests, helping scholars gain insight into the day-to-day concerns of nonprofit organizations, while providing nonprofit professionals with research they can use.

Independent Sector is a national membership organization that brings together a diverse set of nonprofits, foundations, and corporations to advance the common good.
International Society for Third-Sector Research (ISTR)
ISTR promotes research and education in the fields of philanthropy, civil society and the nonprofit sector. ISTR reflects the growing worldwide interest in nonprofit research and provides a permanent forum for international research, while at the same time building a global scholarly community in this field.
YNPN Milwaukee
The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) activates emerging leaders and helps them acquire the skills and awareness they need to be effective change makers. With these leaders, YNPN is building a diverse and powerful social sector that can support and strengthen our communities.
