The Klode Park monitoring system is operated in collaboration with the North Shore Water Commission (NWSC), which is responsible for operating and maintaining the water treatment and pumping facilities jointly owned by the Village of Fox Point, the City of Glendale, and Village of Whitefish Bay in north Milwaukee.  The primary purpose of this monitoring system is to make measurements of carbon dioxide, water temperature, and phytoplankton abundance during the winter months, when the buoys and the high-speed ferry are not operating.
