We work with area teachers to introduce children and teens to the world of freshwater science.

We offer multiple opportunities for school groups to be involved in the work of the School of Freshwater Sciences, such as attending open houses, hosting guest speakers, collaborating on Great Lakes or freshwater science curriculum, and participating in the Lake Sturgeon Bowl or the Wisconsin Regional ROV Competition.

Lake Sturgeon Bowl

The annual Lake Sturgeon Bowl is a regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. This double elimination academic tournament is geared toward motivated, hardworking high school students (grades 9-12) who seek a challenge in science and mathematics.

ROV Competition

The Wisconsin Regional MATE Competition challenges K-12, community college and university students from all over the world to design and build ROVs to tackle missions modeled after scenarios from the ocean workplace.
