Posoh (hello in Menominee language) from Michelle Mahkimetas-Kurkewicz. Michelle graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a BA in Elementary Education (1st -8th grade) and a minor in Social Studies. Michelle is looking forward to completing her Dual Licensure in Principal and Director of Instruction by the Summer 2020. She taught in the classroom for many years at all age levels and worked in several organizations. Michelle decided to explore her perspectives in education with goals to advocate for great change in our school systems for all our youth.
As a Language Arts Middle School teacher at a private Native American school, Michelle decided to resign from her teaching position to concentrate on her graduate studies. For the first time, Michelle will have the flexibility of taking her young daughter to and from school, being present at home to support and guide her sons into adult life. Michelle is very excited and looking forward to continuing her journey at UW-Milwaukee.
