The field of finance looks at how individuals and firms allocate their resources over time. Both companies and people make financial decisions every day. Businesses evaluate projects, investments, financing, risk, valuation, and markets on a daily basis. Investment firms and individual investors assess their risk position, investment portfolio, and investment strategies to maximize their returns and meet their financial objectives.
Whether you choose to concentrate in corporate finance or investment finance at the Lubar College, you will gain an understanding of business and the economy, the functions of financial institutions and capital markets, and investment and borrowing instruments. You’ll learn how to use data and technology as tools to evaluate and make the best financial decisions. And you’ll think “big picture” to evaluate investment decisions that serve the long-term objectives of your company or client – not just their short-run interests.
