Voice Studios
The voice area offers a supportive, collaborative environment where students grow as performers, musicians, and individuals. Voice studios are led by nationally recognized, actively performing faculty who are deeply connected to Milwaukee’s vibrant arts scene, including Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Florentine Opera and Skylight Music Theatre.
From your first year, you’ll have opportunities to audition for fully staged operas, opera scenes, musicals, masterclasses, recitals, and vocal ensembles, including our pop ensemble and four choral groups. Voice majors receive weekly hour-long lessons and benefit from close, personalized instruction in a program that’s small enough to know you well but expansive enough to offer meaningful performance and professional development experiences.
UWM’s distinctive Versatile Voice degree prepares singers to work across classical, musical theatre and contemporary commercial styles, supported by a strong foundation in both performance and pedagogy. Whether you’re pursuing a career in performance, teaching, or further study, UWM provides the tools and mentorship to help you shape your path as a flexible, well-rounded artist.
