Biography
Shallece Peters is a dedicated Lecturer of Voice at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she combines her expertise in vocal performance with her passion for nurturing the next generation of singers. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master of Music in Voice and Opera from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music.
Shallece’s teaching philosophy centers on a holistic approach to vocal pedagogy, emphasizing versatility, individuality, and entrepreneurial skills. She strives to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, ensuring students thrive both artistically and personally.
An active performer in a wide range of genres, including opera, art song, jazz, pop, and musical theater, Shallece enjoys exploring diverse musical styles. She was recently featured as a soloist in Lord Nelson’s Mass with the Janesville Choral Union. Her previous opera roles include Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Cathleen in Riders to the Sea, Madame Lidoine in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, La Bergère in L’enfant et les sortilèges, and Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel. Her concert credits include performances of John Rutter’s Requiem, Mozart’s Regina Caeli, Brahms’ Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Mascagni’s Sancta Maria, and Verdi’s La Forza del Destino. She has also appeared as a featured soloist with Florentine Opera in Milwaukee Ballet’s Dracula. Shallece has been seen in recital with Fox River Chamber Fest in the summer of 2022 and 2023, celebrating her love of art song.
In addition to her performance career, Shallece is a first-place award winner in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition. Her students have also achieved notable success, including winning national awards in both the NATS competitions and the Schubert Club.
As an entrepreneur, Shallece actively creates opportunities for young artists and educators to help them navigate the complexities of the industry and cultivate the skills necessary to succeed.
Shallece is a proud member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), where she remains engaged in ongoing professional development and contributes to the broader voice teaching community.
