Biography

I first had a twenty-year career as a design architect, practicing in Baltimore and Wilkes-Barre, designing mostly education and civic facilities, along with some private homes. Then I began teaching, concentrating in design studios, architectural and landscape history, and building construction technology. My research areas are in landscape history and urban planning history. My other interests are in the interplay of technology and design, in the pedagogy of architecture, and in finding avenues for finding evidence for evidence-based design.
