Biography

Kate is a transportation planner with over a decade of experience that spans the private sector, public sector, and non-profits. She is currently a Senior Planner with Toole Design, where she works on active transportation plans and projects throughout the Midwest. Previously, Kate was a Senior Planner with HNTB, where she contributed to several high-profile transportation projects in Milwaukee. Kate also worked for the City of Milwaukee where she managed several transportation infrastructure projects and initiated new and innovative programs, including the Dockless Scooter program, Active Streets, the Interim Plaza Program, and Vision Zero. She worked for Health by Design, a non-profit based in Indianapolis that does work at the intersection of the built environment and health. In this role, Kate led Active Living Workshops throughout the State of Indiana. Her first planning job was as the first ever Active Transportation Planner for the City of Fort Wayne. There, she initiated new biking and walking educational and encouragement programs, as well as managed infrastructure project. Kate started her transportation career as a Safe Routes to School instructor with the Wisconsin Bike Fed, where she fell in love with helping people to discover the joy in bicycling.
