ARC offers alternative testing accommodations for students with disabilities.

ARC adheres to the UWM Student Academic Misconduct Guidelines. When taking quizzes or exams at ARC, students are required to leave personal items or aids outside the testing room unless otherwise noted in the Accommodation Plan or authorized by the instructor in writing. Students taking tests at ARC are either monitored by video or by a proctor who will occasionally enter the test room or observe students through a window. Any incident that appears in violation of the university regulations regarding academic integrity will result in the test being removed immediately from the student and the instructor notified.

Student Expectations

  • Discuss with their instructor how and where the quizzes and exams will be administered.
  • Schedule tests at the course’s designated start time unless the testing accommodation(s) necessitate that the exam begin at a different date and/or time due to course overlap.
  • Schedule their test in ARConnect at least five (5) working days before the test date.
  • Schedule their final exam in ARConnect at least ten (10) working days before the last day of class.
  • Remind their instructor of testing accommodations well in advance of an upcoming quiz or exam.
  • Arrive on time for a test in ARC. Late arrival will not extend the ending time of the exam beyond the scheduled exam end time.
  • Immediately notify their ARC Access Specialist of any accommodation concerns.

Instructor Information

You should offer to meet with the student privately to discuss how best to address the student’s needs. Once you and the student have agreed upon how and where the quizzes and exams will be administered, please complete an Alternative Testing Agreement for the course by logging into PROFconnect. If you need to make any changes to the testing agreement later in the semester, you can do so in PROFconnect as well.

If a student needs extra time or a minimally-distracting environment for a quiz or exam, the best location you can provide is most often a room within your department that meets the conditions of the Accommodation Plan. Quizzes and exams should be taken on the same day and time as the rest of the class unless you make other arrangements with the student. Keep in mind that if a student needs extra time on a quiz or exam, they may experience a conflict with back-to-back classes or with their work schedule. Students with alternative testing accommodations are expected to be punctual and demonstrate academic integrity just like their peers.

If a student needs to take a quiz or exam at ARC, they should schedule it in ARConnect at least five (5) working days prior to the test date or at least ten (10) working days prior to the last day of the semester. You will need to provide the quiz or exam to ARC at least 24 hours before the start of the test. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late will forfeit their scheduled test time in ARC.
