FreePower Drinking in Prehistoric Europe
Saturday October 22, 3:30-4:30pm
UW-Milwaukee Honors House, Room 196, UWM Campus
Anthropology faculty member Bettina Arnold and PhD candidate Josh Driscoll have teamed up with Lakefront Brewery owner Russ Klisch and Lead Cellarman Chad Sheridan to produce two braggots, mead-ale blends, based on Iron Age burial contexts in Germany and Scandinavia. They will present the archaeological and paleobotanical evidence for the beverages they have produced while brewing up an additional batch of Iron Age-inspired ale. Samples will be available of the braggots for those with valid IDs following the presentation and there will be a tour of the first stage of the Brew Garden located to the west of the Honors College, part of the new L&S certificate program in Fermentation Studies.
