Anthropology Student Colloquium
March 14, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
FreeThis year’s Anthropology Student Colloquium will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015. The theme for this year will be “Transformations in Time: Change as a Constant”. The Deadline for preregistration is March 7, 2015. Although registration is free, we strongly encourage those planning to attend to register by emailing Clare Connelly at connel33@uwm.edu by March 7. The first 150 people to register are guaranteed to receive a complementary ASU tote bag containing items such as a UWM jump drive.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Judy Ledgerwood, the Director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies and professor at Northern Illinois University. Dr. Ledgerwood is a leading cultural anthropologist and her current particular focus is on Cambodian Buddhism, violence and ideas of cultural identity. A departmental bio of Dr. Ledgerwood can be found on the Northern Illinois University’s website at http://www.niu.edu/anthro/faculty_staff/faculty/ledgerwood.shtml.
The Colloquium is also open to anthropology students outside of UWM. If you know of anyone outside of our own department who would be interested, please forward this message. For those outside of the Milwaukee area that plan to attend the Colloquium, accommodations will be arranged with UWM anthropology graduate students.
