“It’s All About Us: Modern Human Origins”
Abstract: The origins of modern humans (Homo sapiens) is often told as the triumphant story of a single unique species. However, growing fossil, archaeological, neurological, and genetic evidence indicate that until quite recently we co-existed with other intelligent members of the genus Homo. In this talk I discuss the implications of recent findings that narrow the gap between humans and our closest relatives and how they force us to reconsider what it means to be human.
