As you may have heard, Mark Harris will be stepping back from his role as Vice Provost for Research. In his current role, Mark also oversees the Graduate School.
I’d first like to thank Mark for his many years of excellent service in this and many other roles. He’s been invaluable in leading growth in the Office of Research. And, he’s provided essential leadership through the 2030 Realignment process and oversight of several academic units as interim dean. His commitment and exemplary leadership will be missed. Thank you, Mark. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
As we move forward, we are asking interested faculty to submit self–nominations to fill Mark’s role for the next year. This Interim Vice Provost for Research and Graduate School Dean will start no later than September 1, 2023, and serve through the end of June 2024. We will conduct a national search starting in Fall 2023.
Please find attached the position description. Candidates are asked to submit their CV and a letter stating their interest in the role, and how their experience and skills will fulfill the responsibilities and duties of that role. Application materials (letter and CV) should be submitted to the Office of the Provost (provost-office@uwm.edu) no later than end of business day on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
