Check out all the exciting experiences built into our program. The Design Entrepreneur Showcase presents innovative companies, products and services that senior design students develop around the themes of water, energy, ecology and education for Wisconsin residents. “Resolution,” the annual Design and Visual Communication BFA Exhibition, represents the culmination of the senior undergraduate design curriculum. The Student Startup Challenge is an entrepreneurial incubator at UWM that fosters student innovation, teamwork and engagement.
The design program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is an ongoing design laboratory, focusing on design research, design process and design entrepreneurship. Our curriculum includes coursework in typography, design strategy and problem diagnosis, design methodologies, portfolio development, web and multimedia design, composition, and real-world internships in local design firms.
Design and Visual Communication student Emily Adkins wins Student Gold Award
DVC student Emily Adkins has won the 2016 “Milwaukee 99 United Adworkers Student Gold Award.” She created the winning campaign, “Make Meals More” for the client Penzeys Spices, at the Milwaukee Portfolio School during the summer of 2016. The judges were Megan Evans (Ogilvy & Mather), Hoshi Ludwig (School of Visual Arts), Chris Pollock (freelance Creative Director) and Pedro Saldarriaga (Suckle).
Her campaign uses actual Penzeys spices to illustrate the tagline that great ingredients “Make Meals More.”
Emily Adkins is currently a senior in the Design and Visual Communication program.
