Melissa has prior experience as an EMT and in Medical-Surgical nursing. She has been teaching since Spring 2017 in the psychomotor skills lab and as a clinical instructor in acute care settings. She has done quality improvement projects on improving breastfeeding rates and improving individualized care in the neonatal ICU.

Melissa’s teaching philosophy is to engage adult learners in a comfortable environment by developing mutual trust and respect, openness, and acceptance of difference. She facilitates learning by providing resources and structure to meet student’s needs and interests.
