Using the North Central Curriculum, this program will serve as the foundational piece of initial education for the Community Paramedics including:

  • Core content specific to the Role of Community Paramedics
  • Content-specific to Community and Public Health
  • Cultural Competency Community Assessment
  • Chronic Disease Assessment, Teaching and Management

The program will begin with one required orientation and introduction to the online learning format. Participants will work through online modules at their own speed, submitting learning assessments at the completion of each module.

The second part of the course, will include online asynchronous and online synchronous sessions. During this week, there will be online sessions that you will complete independently and sessions that will be interactive.

The final part of the course is clinical experiences, completed in Milwaukee or in your home community using established criteria (arranged by paramedic/paramedic’s home department). Participants will receive a certificate of completion after all three units have been completed.

It is recommended that the paramedic considering this program have a minimum of two years of experience, be comfortable with computers and be available to attend the orientation and other course.
