Pop Up Plaza with Tortilleria Zepeda

The first Pop Up Plaza with Tortilleria Zepeda was a resounding hit! The event was lead by UWM’s Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization (CEO), cosponsored by the UWM Lubar Entrepreneurship Center, and featured Heidi and Julian Zepeda – founders and owners of Tortilleria Zepeda, and Project Pitch It winners. Over 40 participants joined in to generate ideas for an improved social media campaign for Tortilleria Zepeda.

“Overall the event was a huge success with a massive turnout, wonderful engagement, and a great way to celebrate taco Tuesday!” – Mathew Herman, President of UWM CEO

The event kicked off with a heated rock-paper-scissors battle, before turning to a discussion about social media marketing. To prep for generating ideas, attendees heard from Heidi and Julian to learn more about the company. They also listened to Leah Donnelly, a social media expert and previous social media manager for UWM CEO. After hearing from Leah – and with newly imparted knowledge on best practices for implementing social media campaigns – attendees broke into groups to brainstorm new strategies for Tortilleria Zepeda.

Participants worked to generate ideas around eight different topics: paid ads, picture content, stories/reels and channel topics/ideas, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, and social media hacks/how to gain more followers. Each group tracked their ideas on whiteboards.

After brainstorming, the groups reported out on their ideas, received feedback from Heidi and Julian, and helped build them an initial social media strategy to start utilizing.

As a parting thank you from Tortilleria Zepeda, each participant left with samples of the company’s product (and some fun LEC swag).
