  • Affiliate Assistant Professor, School of Freshwater Sciences
  • Assistant Professor, Department of Geosciences

Dr. Charles (Charlie) J. Paradis is an Assistant Professor of Physical Hydrogeology in the Department of Geosciences at UW-Milwaukee.  Charlie's research focuses on the fate, transport, and remediation of contaminants in groundwater.   He uses a variety of observational, experimental (added tracer tests), and modeling methods to better understand how contaminants, like uranium and road salt, move and react in the subsurface.  Charlie also teaches courses in physical hydrogeology, field methods, and numerical modeling.

Education

  • PhD, University of Tennessee, Knoxville
  • MS, University of California, Davis

Research Interests

  • Fate, transport, and remediation of contaminants in the environment
  • Mobility of redox-sensitive radionuclides and metals in groundwater
  • Field-based tracer experiments for characterization of hydraulic parameters and processes
