Freshwater Colloquium: Integrating data for aquatic invasive species management and research

October 31, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm

Dr. Matthew Neilson will present “Integrating data for aquatic invasive species management and research” as part of the School of Freshwater Sciences fall colloquium.

Dr. Neilson is a fish biologist with the US Geological Survey’s Nonindigenous Aquatic Species Database, where he has worked for the last 10 years to aggregate and integrate data on nonnative species introductions across the United States. This presentation will give an overview of some of the ways that the NAS Database is turning data into actionable maps, tools, and products to enhance invasive species research, management, and control efforts.

This presentation is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and the public.

The Colloquium series creates a platform where students, faculty, and scientists discuss emergent issues related to freshwater science research. Invited speakers present specific topics of their research, as well as policy, commercial, and industrial experiences.
