Freshwater Colloquium: Wisconsin’s Great Lakes Fisheries Management

April 29 @ 3:00 pm - 3:50 pm

Brad Eggold and Cheryl Masterson will present “Wisconsin’s Great Lakes Fisheries Management” as part of the School of Freshwater Sciences spring colloquium.

Brad Eggold is the Great Lakes District Fisheries Supervisor coordinating the management of fisheries populations in both Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. Cheryl Masterson is the Fisheries Team Supervisor, working on sport and commercial fisheries in southern Lake Michigan. Both Brad and Cheryl have offices in the School of Freshwater Sciences.

Management of fisheries populations in the Great Lakes is unique compared to other parts of the United States. This talk will focus on the collaborative effort by the Great Lakes States to effectively manage these fisheries including examples on salmon and trout management in Lake Michigan and our ongoing Lake Sturgeon rehabilitation efforts.

This presentation is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and the public.

The Colloquium series creates a platform where students, faculty, and scientists discuss emergent issues related to freshwater science research. Invited speakers present specific topics of their research, as well as policy, commercial, and industrial experiences.
