Forecasting wind gusts is one of the more challenging aspects of any meteorologist’s job. This is compounded by just how important it is to accurately forecast them: everything from aircraft operations to the roof at American Family Field (aka Miller Park) is impacted by gusty winds!
New research from Prof. Jon Kahl, Ph.D. candidate Austin Harris, and senior undergraduate Brandon Selbig, however, shows promise in making this task a little less challenging. Read all about it in the March 2021 UWM College of Letters and Science InFocus newsletter!
