Program Requirements

Credit for Prior Professional Education Experience (PPEE)

Students accepted into the community education child care program are eligible to earn credit for their professional/life experience by demonstrating their competency through essay examinations (PPEE). Students can earn up to 42 lower-division elective credits for prior professional experience that may be used toward the Community Engagement and Education degree.

Transfer Your Wisconsin Registry Credentials

The community education child care sub major is acknowledged by the Wisconsin Child Care Registry as a “related” degree for professionals.

18 credits of WI Registry child care credits are required to fulfill the community education child care sub major.

Students must complete the “Foundational” or “Administrative” credential developed and overseen by the Wisconsin Registry. The WI Registry child care credits are completed at other institutions and transferred to UWM.
