Why Study Abroad?
- Studying abroad is a great resume-builder and may even open up new opportunities for graduate school or give you an edge over other job candidates.
- With increasing globalization, it is important to have second/foreign language skills, problem-solving skills and international knowledge with a global perspective.
- You can earn credits toward graduation, and with some detailed planning, it will not delay your graduation date.
- As a student, you are eligible for scholarships and financial aid to assist with payment for your program.

My experience in the United Kingdom guided me to a deeper understanding of how to live in the most authentic, honest and truthful way I can. Studying abroad has led me to view my capabilities as infinite, with the understanding that knowledge and growth is everlasting.
I’m so grateful for the privilege of getting to spend time away from my job and studies at UWM and take time to realize what was actually important to me in life. I’ve met people from upwards of ten different countries living here and getting to share cultures and language has been an invaluable experience.
If you’ll need to apply for a passport or renew your passport to study abroad, it’s important that you start now. Routine passport processing can take up to 11 weeks from start to finish.
