Curated by MFA candidates from the Department of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres, these programs feature a unique opportunity to see some of the incredible 16mm prints from the UWM Cinema Arts Archive. For each program, the curator is invited to program a selection of films around a theme of their choosing.
Featuring original choreography by our graduating seniors, this annual event reflects months of focused research, experimentation, and creative development. Over an intensive two-and-a-half-month process, students bring their artistic visions to life in performance. Come celebrate and support the next generation of artists.

In this tragi-comic play, a grotesquely wealthy person returns to their hometown which has suffered an economic downturn. In exchange for a reversal of their plight, she demands a high price – one that shakes the very bedrock of the society. This play premiered in New York 70 years ago, directed by Peter Brook and starred Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne.
Rachel David is a North Carolina-based blacksmith, sculptor, designer, and maker. Her metalwork practice is holistic; encompassing art, furniture, architectural elements, activism, collaborations, and gardening. Using the physical and technically demanding processes of forging, forming, and machining steel, Rachel addresses broader issues of “body” and “landscape” through the lens of social and environmental justice. David's work is in the collections of the Smithsonian Renwick Gallery, the City of New Orleans, the City of Asheville, the Simone Benetton Foundation, and numerous private collections.
This exciting night of music will feature music from Guatemala and Trinidad and Tobago performed by UWM students and Milwaukee community members. The UWM Steel PANthers Steel Band and the new University Community World Music Ensemble will join forces on a program highlighting traditional and arranged music played on Guatemalan marimba doble and Trinidadian steel pans.
The High School Honors Band Festival provides the region’s most motivated and accomplished high school wind, brass, and percussion students an opportunity to work with each other and with regionally and nationally recognized conductors. In addition, students interact with UWM performance staff and experience performances by UWM ensembles.

Our festival provides the region’s most motivated and accomplished middle school instrumentalists with an opportunity to work with one another and with regionally and nationally recognized wind band conductors. UWM Opera Scenes offers an evening of fully staged excerpts from some of opera’s most compelling works. Featuring a range of styles, languages, and characters, this performance highlights the work of our singers as they bring dramatic storytelling and music together on stage. It’s a chance to experience a variety of scenes in one engaging program.
The UWM Wind Ensemble will share a concert with UWM's High School Honors Band & String Orchestra Festival ensembles. This Saturday evening concert is a culmination of a weekend of rehearsals, lessons and experiences meant to show festival students what it's like to be a musician at UW-Milwaukee.

Join us for two nights of works celebrating the radical work of the legendary Portia Cobb. Her interdisciplinary practice as an artist and filmmaker is deeply interested in telling stories that reflect the double-consciousness of African American history, identity, memory & forced forgetting. This creative body of work and research has joined these themes and found form in videos, photographic essays, field recordings, ephemeral installations and site-specific performances.
Presenting a selection of lithographic prints demonstrating each artist's unique interpretation of their experiences and interests. Students produce diverse responses to themes such as Micro/Macro, Artifact, and Time while exploring varied techniques for translating their ideas into stone and aluminum plate lithography.
Tyler Evans is a visual communicator originally from Georgia, now living and working in Washington DC, using design and digital media to make politics more accessible to people in their daily lives. Tyler has previously worked as Creative Director for Bernie Sanders, the Democratic Socialists of America, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and currently works as Creative Director for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress.

The hilarious, unscripted show is unique for each performance and is born right before your eyes- oh my! No scripts- just actors being brilliant and hilarious. Guest Artist Alan Guszowski (ComedySportz Milwaukee) leads the team of players on this comedy romp.
