The UW-Milwaukee dance department invites high school student dancers to attend A Day in the Life of a Dance Major where attendees will be paired with a first year dance major to shadow a typical day’s activities as a student. Parents/guardians are welcome to join us for the morning welcome and the afternoon tour.
Featuring original choreography by our graduating seniors, this annual event reflects months of focused research, experimentation, and creative development. Over an intensive two-and-a-half-month process, students bring their artistic visions to life in performance. Come celebrate and support the next generation of artists.
Celebrate the end of the semester with a vibrant performance featuring students enrolled in African Dance, Salsa/Merengue, Hip Hop, and Tap. Showcasing choreography learned throughout the term and accompanied by live music, this event is one of the most joyful and energetic celebrations on campus each semester.
The Department of Dance’s annual winter concert showcases bold, original choreography by faculty and guest artists, highlighting the creative vitality of our program.
Created especially for high school students, this matinee performance of Winterdances features world‑premiere choreography that highlights the creative process of professional artists working with their collaborators. A post‑performance Q&A invites students into conversation with the choreographers, followed by a sack lunch and two hands‑on technique workshops taught by UWM’s internationally known faculty.
Springdances marks the Department of Dance’s annual spring concert, presenting new choreographic works by faculty and guest artists in a dynamic expression of creative growth and renewal.

Through diverse approaches, embodied practices, and high-caliber training, dancers are exposed to physical techniques and artistry that prepare them for college auditions, dance performances, and professional careers. The four-day event is designed for artists ages 14 and up who are seeking to deepen their dance practice and discover new techniques, forging connections that support a professional dance future.
