Winterdances 2026 will present dance that uplifts the human connection through storytelling, joy, and resilience. These dances dive into our shared humanity, the challenges we all face, and offer a vision of how we might gather strength by coming together in community. This evening features the premiere work by acclaimed choreographer and special guest artist David Roussève.

Roussève partnered with UWM Dance, Community Partners Diverse & Resilient and local dancers to create his work CARE. This event is part of the final stage of Roussève’s dance and community project, CARE: Illuminating Milwaukee’s Queer and Trans Community. Winterdances also features work by UWM dance faculty Daniel Burkholder, Maria Gillespie, Dan Schuchart, and Mair Culbreth.

This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
