Join the Department of Film, Video, Animation & New Genres as we celebrate the faculty-nominated student works created in the 25-26 academic year. Celebrated works feature students from Freshmen to Seniors and showcase various genres, topics and coursework created within department courses.
The inaugural Milwaukee Sonic Arts Festival presents experimental electronic music and sonic art that engages with technology as a means of sonic expression. It will feature performers Alex Wier, percussion and Jennifer Clippert, flute along with three concerts and two presentation/workshop sessions.
Alisi Telengut is a Canadian artist of Mongolian roots living between Berlin and Montréal/Tiohtià:ke. She creates frame-by-frame, under-the-camera animations using mixed media, including oil pastel, sand, stones, crystals, and found materials. Through handmade and painterly processes, her work explores human-nature relationships, animistic worldviews, and Indigenous knowledge systems of Mongolian peoples.
Brett Lysne is an artist working in printmaking, drawing, artist books, and mixed media. His work is inspired by mapmaking, language, knowledge, and queer record-keeping. Currently Brett is living in Minneapolis, MN and is a co-op member at Highpoint Center for Printmaking.
A concert and party, as Present Music kicks off its 45th season by pushing sonic boundaries. The night features a distortion-friendly piano concerto with Michael Mizrahi, a World Premiere, and a bold classical remix. Deanna Tham conducts.
International members of the Chicago Paris Cabaret Connexion will present a concert of music showcasing the eclectic world of Cabaret. Featuring Anne Fromm, Amandine Larachiche, and Julie Morel with Wilfried Touati on the accordion.
Yinan Wang 王一男 is a filmmaker born and raised in Beijing. His recent work, 甜腻腻 Thick & Sweet, reconstructs both personal and collective memories of a local Chinese restaurant through cutouts, reenactments, found footage, and fragments of earlier films, quietly probing how images form—and deform—cultural identity. Wang received his BFA from UWM and is a recipient of the 2026 Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists.
Intimate scenes require more than choreography—they require trust, communication, consent, and thoughtful collaboration. This workshop introduces students to the principles of intimacy coordination and explores how directors and filmmakers can create a safe, respectful environment when working with actors on intimate material. Students will learn practical approaches for communicating boundaries, preparing scenes, and supporting actors throughout the filmmaking process.
La Perla is a percussive-vocal trio from Bogotá, Colombia created by Karen, Diana, and Roberta (Giovanna), and inspired by the music of the Great Caribbean mixed with sounds of the city. They began playing in 2014 after years of individual experience in the interpretation of gaitas, hand-drums and folk singing. La Perla is gaita, porro, chalupa, bullerengue, cumbia, merengue dominicano, champeta and beat box. Guarachar is their latest release, with which they remind us of the spirit of neighborhood parties.
The UWM Percussion Ensemble presents its annual Fall concert, featuring a wide variety of instruments, sounds, and compositions from different periods.
Students who received scholarships in the previous year are invited to display work in this exciting exhibition that spans a wide range of mediums and topics from emerging artists.
The Composition and Technology program will present a concert of original works by UWM students. The program will include newly composed pieces for acoustic and electronic mediums.
Micah Alhadeff is a digital artist, curator, and educator whose work explores glitch aesthetics, virtual embodiment, and speculative transformation. Alhadeff’s work has been exhibited at Sotheby's in New York City, The Royal Institute in London, NFT.NYC, NFT Show Europe in Valencia, Spain, Tech Contemporary in Copenhagen, and across 1000 billboards in Belgium through Art Crush Gallery. Alhadeff is as Assistant Professor of Kinetic Imaging at Western Michigan University where he teaches experimental approaches to game engines, worldbuilding, and emerging technologies in digital art.
No Man’s Land is an exhibition curated by students in Photography & Imaging’s Fall 2026 Contemporary Issues in Photography course.

The UWM Symphony Orchestra and Choirs join forces for an evening of powerful choral-orchestral masterworks. In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the program features American works that reflect on the nation’s history and ideals, including Florence Price’s Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight and Aaron Copland’s iconic Fanfare for the Common Man. The program also features Mozart’s radiant Coronation Mass, bringing together orchestra, chorus, and soloists in one of his most celebrated sacred works.
Spend the morning with the UWM String Academy as students ages 4 through 18 perform an engaging program of music from around the world. This concert showcases the talent and hard work they’ve put in throughout the semester. Free and open to the public.
