Melissa Brown, PhD, RN, CNE

Dr. Brown’s research interests have included health behavior change in chronically and acutely ill populations, with her focus being self-management and self-regulation. Her dissertation described health behavior change among women at risk for osteoporosis using ecological momentary assessments. More recently, her research focus involves NCLEX preparation and test anxiety among nursing students.

Prior to becoming an instructor of pathophysiology and pharmacology at UW-Milwaukee, Dr. Brown graduated from UW-Milwaukee’s Direct Entry Master’s – Clinical Nurse Specialist program and continued on to earn her PhD in Nursing in December 2018. She continues to work part-time as an Adult ICU Registered Nurse on Milwaukee’s north side in addition to her roles as an instructor and NCLEX mentor at UWM. She has over a decade of bedside nursing experience.
