UW-Milwaukee faculty experts can assist media covering stories about racial inequality

MILWAUKEE _  Protests across the country have shined a spotlight on racial inequality. UWM experts can assist media on a range of stories related to the public dialogue about race, ethnicity and social justice. For example:

  • David Pate, an associate professor and chair of the social work department, can talk about how black men are affected by the social welfare system and challenges that impede their ability to attain economic security.
  • Kirk Harris, an associate professor of urban planning, can discuss racial and economic equity, specifically from the standpoint of strengthening families, developing communities and giving voice to black men and boys who he says are often overlooked when building solutions.
  • Paru Shah, an associate professor of political science, can talk about broad issues of inequality and policing policy. Shah works in the areas of race, ethnicity and politics.
