Audiology group holds emergency drive-through service for hearing aid repairs

UWM’s audiology group will offer an emergency drive-through service for hearing aid repairs on Monday, April 13. Patients who need hearing aid repairs or adjustments can make an appointment to receive drive-up service throughout the day.

To minimize contact in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, the clinic is offering the emergency drive up services to help patients with immediate equipment issues.

The clinic has been offering this service once a week since Wisconsin’s Safer at Home order began but is considering adding a second day during the week depending on patient demand, according Jodie McGowan, the clinic service coordinator. The clinic has been serving an average of five to seven patients a day.

Patients must make an appointment by emailing the audiology group at audgroup@uwm.edu. Patients without access to email can leave a message at 414-607-1830.

Upon arriving at the upper level of the back parking lot, patients will call the office to notify the audiologist of their arrival. The audiologist will meet them at their cars in protective gear and will return the equipment after servicing. The clinic is at 10425 W. North Ave, Wauwatosa, across from Mayfair Mall.

UW-Milwaukee Audiology Group offers clinical training to UWM graduate students and provides patients with services like hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings and repairs, and technology support.

The following week’s emergency drive-up will be on Tuesday, April 21.
