The UW-Milwaukee community, and the larger community beyond, gathered together last week for the inauguration of Chancellor Thomas Gibson.
The celebrants gathered from far and wide, from students and alumni to faculty and staff, from Gibson’s mentors and fraternity brothers to business and community leaders.
The celebration featured events all week, culminating in a ceremony at the Zelazo Center on the 70th anniversary of the first classes held at the then-fledgling University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
In his inaugural speech, Gibson urged the UWM community to be proud of its accomplishments and drive to achieve more.
“Together, let us make room for what comes next,” Gibson said. “Let us make room for one another. And let us always, always dream bigger.”
