The Moonshot Pitch Competition: Winners and Highlights

The Moonshot Pitch Competition on October 21st was powered by the UWM Black Student Cultural Center (BSCC), Young Enterprising Society (Y.E.S.), and the UWM Lubar Entrepreneurship Center, and by Northwestern Mutual.

Over the course of the event, judges and participants heard business pitches from over 20 startups, networked with each other, and came away feeling inspired by the diverse and innovative work being done in Milwaukee.

Thank you to our judges:  Adam Gabornitz (Assistant Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Northwestern Mutual), Marquayla Ellison (President, Social X MKE, and Freelance Graphic Designer, Ellastic Designs), and Elmer Moore (Executive Director, Scale Up Milwaukee).

Runner Up: Good Water –  Zashary Torres, Djdade Denson, and Karl Tatum $300

Third Place: Greenway – Paolo Gratton and Andreas Soerenson $400

Second Place: The Way Out – Ruben Gaona $600

First Place: Crowned Soles – Chineva Smith $700

All participants received a gift package including: A UWM LEC t-shirt, information on Northwestern Mutual internships and the Black Student Cultural Center, a UWM LEC sticker sheet and contact card, a book from the UWM LEC bookshelf (Lost in Startuplandia by E. Keller Fitzsimmons), smarties candy, a Pounce sticker, post-it notes, and a sharpie.
