Curriculum Innovation Grant Program at the LEC

The Lubar Entrepreneurship Center is pleased to announce a new program for faculty and instructors interested in integrating design and entrepreneurial thinking into their courses. The Curriculum Innovation Grant Program aims to expand the umbrella of Ideas Challenge Courses in order to expose more UWM students to innovation and entrepreneurship.

There are two tracks to the program. The first track is ideas for individual course instruction from an individual. The second track is ideas for new/existing courses requiring co-instruction from a pair of instructors. Participants of each track are expected to leave the course with new curriculum either embedded into an existing course, or a brand-new course.

Dr. Avdeev, Director of Innovation at the LEC, is leading the program with Brian Thompson, the Director of the LEC.

“Our goal is to help all 25,000 UWM students learn innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship – and this program will help us reach more students by working with instructors to embed content into their courses.” – Brian Thompson

Faculty or instructors who are selected to participate in the course will receive the following support for 12 months:

  • Professional development grant
  • Discretionary support
  • Curriculum design and implementation coaching from LEC staff or affiliated faculty

The new program has many benefits to the faculty and instructors who will participate in the program, beyond the technical benefits noted.

There are many amazing instructors and faculty at UWM who are motivated to re-imagine how- and what they teach. We believe that this grant program can turn their motivation into action! The spirit of this program is to experiment. There is no failing here – just learning!” – Ilya Avdeev.
