Jae Yung Song, Anne Pycha, and Tessa Culleton have just published a new article in the journal Frontiers in Communication. The research examines how Korean L2 speakers of English interact with Amazon Alexa, and how they adjust their vowel productions when Alexa doesn’t understand what they’ve said. The article is titled Interactions between voice-activated AI assistants and human speakers and their implications for second-language acquisition.
