The Quantum Design MPMS 5XL uses a Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) Magnetometer to monitor very small changes in magnetic flux and so discover the magnetic properties of samples. It is extremely sensitive for all kinds of AC and DC magnetic measurements.
The MPMS can detect low magnetizations (~ 10-9 emu) over a temperature rangeof 1.7 – 400 K and in a magnetic field up to 5 Tesla. Several options are also available for our system. The first option is the Sample Space Oven that will increase the temperature range from 400 to 800 K. The second option is the Resistivity Package that includes an External Device Control and a Manual Insertion Probe that allow transport measurements, including magnetoresistance and Hall effect. The third option is the Fiber Optic Sample Holder, which provides a convenient way to study the magnetization of a sample under the influence of light.
