The Wisconsin Trans and Queer People Of Color Summit will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2016 in the UWM Student Union. The WTQPOC Summit is a space for trans and queer communities of color and allies to come together to engage in meaningful dialogues focused on the intersections of identities for trans and queer people of color (TQPOC).

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in educational workshops, presentations, and a plenary that will provide them with tools to navigate societal and institutional barriers that trans and queer people of color encounter on campuses and in larger communities. We will explore the complexities of and critical necessity for coalition building through intersectional and social justice lenses. The experiences gathered and lessons learned at the Summit will effect change on both our campuses and in our wider communities.

After attending the WTQPOCS, participants will be able to:

1. Identify challenges unique to trans and queer people of color

2. Construct plans to create more active and vibrant queer student of color communities on college campuses, high school campuses, and/or within larger communities

3. Demonstrate active awareness of ally behavior toward trans and queer people of color
