Mission and Vision

Mission Statement

The UWM LGBTQ+RC strives to create a welcoming campus community by providing social-justice-based education, resources, programming, and support for students across the spectrums of gender and sexuality, with an emphasis on intersectional experiences.

Vision

We are a campus community made of intersecting identities and multiple histories. We envision a stronger UW-Milwaukee community that is equitable, respectful, and visibly engaged in challenging systemic oppression.

We will:

  • Reflect the diverse communities within and beyond our campus through the work we do.
  • Support and challenge all students on their personal journeys to understand and celebrate their identities.
  • Connect, retain, and sustain students and alumni in equity-and-justice-based work.

Centers for Advocacy and Student Engagement (CASE)

The LGBTQ+ Resource Center is a member of CASE. Also included in CASE are the First-Generation+ Resource Center (FG+RC), Military and Veteran’s Resource Center (MAVRC), and the Women’s Resources Center (WRC). Each of our centers serve students by creating spaces, programs, and resources that support each student’s journey through UWM.

CASE Mission

The Centers for Advocacy and Student Engagement (CASE) collaborate to support and advocate for marginalized students through comprehensive programs, resources, professional development, and community connections in Milwaukee.

CASE Shared Values

  • Advocacy – Engage and uplift the voices of marginalized communities at UWM.
  • Affirmation – Build a learning community that celebrates and respects students’ diverse experiences, identities, and self-worth.
  • Empowerment – Motivate students to develop agencies and control over their college experience.
  • Community Care – Foster belonging and shared responsibility for student success.
