Mission and Vision

Mission Statement

The UWM LGBTQ+RC strives to create a welcoming campus community by providing social-justice-based education, resources, programming, and support for students across the spectrums of gender and sexuality, with an emphasis on intersectional experiences.

Vision

We are a campus community made of intersecting identities and multiple histories. We envision a stronger UW-Milwaukee community that is equitable, respectful, and visibly engaged in challenging systemic oppression.

We will:

  • Reflect the diverse communities within and beyond our campus through the work we do.
  • Support and challenge all students on their personal journeys to understand and celebrate their identities.
  • Connect, retain, and sustain students and alumni in equity-and-justice-based work.

Centers for Advocacy and Student Engagement (CASE)

The LGBTQ+ Resource Center is a member of CASE. Also included in Case are the Inclusive Excellence Center (IEC), Military and Veteran’s Resource Center (MAVRC), and the Women’s Resources Center (WRC). Each of our centers serve students by creating spaces, programs, and resources that support each student’s journey through UWM.

CASE Mission

CASE is a collective effort to educate, connect resources, and develop programming that advocates for all students, ourselves, and each other in order to impact change at structural, institutional, and systemic levels.

CASE Shared Values

Advocate for Students – Work to engage and uplift the voices of underrepresented, marginalized and minoritized student communities at UWM.

Create an Affirming Environment – Through programming, services, education, and policies, CASE members foster a sense of belonging and community accountability advancing systemic change.

Care –Creating a respectful, compassionate, trusting environment that celebrates success and fosters the health and well-being of the collective staff to better serve our students.
