Research Interests

Gayantha is interested in studying the evaporitic lacustrine environments and subsurface aqueous environments on ancient Mars and search for materials with high biosignature preservation potential. He is trying to understand the different alteration patterns of those environments with analog environments on the Earth using X-ray Diffraction, X-ray absorption Spectrometry and Imaging and non-imaging spectroscopy.
