Bio

Howdy! I am so glad you’ve ventured far enough to find me 🙂 My name is Lora and I am a first-year M.A. student but more than that: your resident coffee shop enthusiast, Disney gal, Drag Race/Big Brother expert, and academic icon.
I earned my B.A. in communication at Texas A&M University. I specialize in research combining aspects of identity, rhetoric, fantasy themes, gender studies, and popular culture. I get to study my favorite things about self-expression and artistry, and I invite all my students and colleagues to join me in diving into the academic aspects of what makes you, YOU! Most of my undergrad research centered on reality television and RuPaul’s Drag Race, and my undergraduate thesis was titled, “Drag Beyond the Body: Trixie Motel and Spatial Identity as Performance.”
I have had the honor of presenting research at the Lighthearted Philosophers’ Annual Conference, CSCA and SSCA Annual Conventions, A&M Undergrad Research Symposium, and TAMU Diversity Conference. I spent two years as an undergrad TA and was awarded the Charley Conrad Honors Award by the A&M Department of Communication and Journalism in 2023. I am so excited to see what opportunities UWM will bring… but honey, this is only the beginning!
