Communication

Communicate with purpose. Lead with impact.

Strong communication skills are consistently named by employers across all industries as one of the top three attributes they look for in employees.

UWM’s communication program covers the theory, history, ethics and practice of communication in different settings. Graduates learn how to communicate effectively, analyze and assess communication systems and structures, and identify solutions to communication problems.

Communication can be oral, written, nonverbal or visual, and we address them all in our coursework. Our curriculum broadly covers interpersonal, intercultural, small group, organizational, instructional, mediated, and rhetorical/public communication. Students prepare for career entry and growth by examining how different methods of communication generate meanings within and across contexts, cultures, and media.
