Violin Studio
The Violin Studio provides high quality education for violin students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The studio is committed to be an inclusive, supportive and safe learning space for all students. Our mission is to prepare local, out-of-state and international students to succeed in a variety of careers in music: soloist, orchestra and chamber musician, and string educator. This preparation includes access to tracks in performance, chamber music, music education and string pedagogy. The student experience is enhanced by master classes offered by faculty and guest artists* and performance opportunities off and on-campus. Students interested in pedagogy and music education tracks can benefit from internships or clinics through the UWM String Academy, Milwaukee Public Schools and local strings programs such as Latino Arts or the Milwaukee Youth Symphony orchestra (MYSO).
Students are encouraged to become active participants in Milwaukee’s vibrant and diverse music community. For the past twenty years, students have had the opportunity to perform as part of “Music on the Move” a monthly concert series presented at various continuing-care communities in Milwaukee. They have also performed in France at Musiques et Vignes en Confluence, a chamber music festival directed by Dr. Bernard Zinck.
Prospective students are encouraged to schedule a trial lesson with Dr. Zinck by emailing bzinck@uwm.edu.
