Honors College Participates in Japanese Program at the UWM Planetarium

Honors College faculty member Hilary Snow has collaborated with the UWM Japanese Program and the Manfred Olson Planetarium to create “Evening in the Land of the Rising Sun,” a new planetarium show. Using poems, art and folk tales, the program explores the moon and stars in Japanese culture. Professor Snow presents the program with Professor Aragorn Quinn from the Japanese Program. At the end, planetarium director Dr. Jean Creighton leads stargazing of the sky over Sapporo.

Current and former Honors College students on the planetarium staff, Derek Palecek, and Maria Pretzl, are also involved. The Japanese language program presents part of their Spring Festival with Japanese language and culture activities before the planetarium show each night. Festival activities start at 6 pm followed by the planetarium show at 7 pm every Friday through May 5th.
